Five Dials, One Watch: Picking Your Ironside 200

The Ironside 200 launches in five dial colours, each named after a Boston landmark. Here's what each one looks like and how to choose.

One of the things that sets the Ironside 200 apart from most diver launches is the dial lineup. Five colours, each named after a Boston landmark, and genuinely different enough from each other that choosing isn't straightforward.

Harbor Blue

The natural choice for a dive watch. A deep navy that reads clearly underwater and under artificial light. If you want a diver that looks like a diver, this is it. The name references Boston Harbor — fitting for a watch rated to 200m.

Rockport Red

The boldest of the five. Red dials on dive watches have a history going back to vintage compressor watches, and Rockport Red leans into that. It's not for everyone, but if you want a watch that gets noticed on the wrist this is the one.

Essex Green

A more understated option. Olive and forest greens have been dominant in the watch market for a few years now, and Essex Green fits neatly into that without chasing a trend too obviously. It wears well on both NATO straps and a bracelet if DeMarco offers one.

Back Bay Purple

The most unusual in the lineup. Purple dials are rare in the diver category, which is exactly why this one stands out. The Back Bay neighbourhood in Boston is known for its brownstones and architecture — a slightly unexpected reference for a dive watch, but it works.

Plymouth Pistachio

The lightest dial in the collection. Pistachio sits somewhere between sage green and pale cream and gives the Ironside 200 a completely different character to the rest of the lineup — less serious, more of a lifestyle diver. If you're not actually diving but want the build quality, this is the one to look at.

Which to Choose

If you're buying this as a working dive watch: Harbor Blue or Rockport Red. If you're buying it as an everyday wearer: Essex Green or Plymouth Pistachio. If you want something nobody else at the table has: Back Bay Purple.

All five ship with two additional straps, so you're not locked in to one look. Each colour is available on Kickstarter now at $399 — $200 off the planned retail price.
